What does the V Pentacles Reversed need me to understand about today? Good Morning! Over the next month I will be sharing my thoughts and feelings about my 'Daily Draw' with you. Please feel free to Contact me if you have any thoughts you'd like to share. So, okay. On this rather chilly winter's morning I had an early rise to get ready and be away in time for an appointment. Before leaping (not really) from my bed, I shuffled and split my deck of cards in half. The up-facing card on the half-deck I am holding in my left-hand, is my Daily Draw card. So my left-facing card is the V Pentacles Reversed. I wondered what unfortunate situation (I like many others I do have a few...) might undergo a change for the better!
What does the V Pentacles Reversed need me to understand about today? Pentacles represents the Element of Earth and while the suit of manifestation, is also the densest, slowest moving energy of all the 4 suites. Pentacles speak to us about manifesting and developing a sense abundance. The Upright V Pentacles, depending on the context or issue of the reading, generally signifies a lack of abundance - of health, wealth and happiness. Those who draw this card may be experiencing physical or financial loss, a chronic ill-health, or unemployment. Two shabby, sad and poor figures are shown wandering haplessly on the outside walls of a cathedral. The cathedral’s stained-glass window shows five golden disks formed into a ‘half tree of life’ and is an image which is central to the card’s complex meaning. In short, the window suggests a significant chance for personal change and growth which can affect their physical wellbeing. Realising good fortune in the Earthly realm requires the capacity to visualise the desired outcome and is supported with physical action and effort. In the Major Arcana, from between the pillars that define the boundaries and limitations of social action, The Hierophant V sits as a symbol of power and passion and knowledge. He blesses his students with the teachings of convention so that they might succeed. A church or cathedral especially in medieval times was the bastion of tradition. Institutions defined the structure social behaviour and interaction and cultural norms; all designed to support and benefit the individual who behaved according to standards and expectations of that society. One of the two figures in this card, has observed this "window of opportunity"; and, even as it remains out of immediate reach the small figure appears to be contemplating on the possibilities it presents. When 5 Pentacles is reversed the meaning changes from the Upright meaning as the position and relationships of the figures, symbols and signs become altered. The reverse image is then essentially different. In this way a reversed card can take on a meaning that is contrary or opposite to the 'upright' meaning. The large glowing window is now an even larger golden door that is offering direct entry into the church (giving access to traditional knowledge and support systems) that can offer new avenues, opportunities or solutions that spell the end to current difficulties and problems. So, how might this card relate to my day? Well, here’s the thing. Some months ago, while checking my bank account I noticed that one of my subscription services was helping itself to a healthy double monthly withdrawal. I was losing money. I took the information to my bank, who told me they would deal with it. Okay. Hmmm. Months later the company continued unabated, to withdraw its two monthly payments. Today I went to my online account, to check progress of this situation. I shouldn’t have been surprised that the double dipping had continued over the past months, and had clocked up a tidy sum of extra unnecessary deductions. I guess, like the little figure simply staring up at the window, I assumed that someone else would fix my problem. The pentacles is about gathering your physical resources - your energy, time, and effort - to create the results you want. I got online to the subscription service and communicated initially with the rudimentary AI bot. Unhelpful. Eventually, I ‘chatted’ with a real person who managed to identify and remedy the problem. Apologies in place and gratitude given and received, I await the refund before allowing myself a full sense of relief! The 5 Pentacles of course could mean something far more substantial or significant. For example, if paired with a Page of Pentacles, might indicate that the ‘window of opportunity’ lies in successfully applying for a new job or career; perhaps as an apprentice. Paired with The Lovers VI could indicate a major life decision is necessary to turn your life around and bring abundance at many levels perhaps with personally affirming vocation or calling. Possibilities are of course as many as there are people on our planet who face financial, life-style and work problems; and seek the door that opens the way to greater abundance and support. https://www.tarotnow.com.au
