The WEA "A Taste of Tarot" is a very popular and long-running one-day WEA tarot class. This class introduces you to a fascinating and centuries old deck of cards. Historically tarot has been used for playing parlour games and entertainment; self-reflection, personal growth, creativity and self-care; fortune-telling and divination (connecting past-present activities and events to 'potential/possible futures'), In our 'A Taste of Tarot' classes we work exclusively with The Rider-Waite Deck (US Games). The class is designed and delivered for those seeking to either gain a fundamental understanding of the structure and meaning of the Major (Archetypes) and Minor (pip) Arcana or, as a tarot refresher class. Every student receives handout notes to assist in their learning, recognition and understanding of the 78 cards. In this class we learn to read one-card spreads. Many 'A Taste of Tarot' students keep and use their handout notes as a personal reference book for the WEA Tarot Level 2 - Reading 3-Card Spreads. Reading 3-Card spreads is fundamental to improving tarot knowledge, developing intuition, and enhancing problem-solving and divination skills.

FREE ENTRYPsychics commonly call themselves intuitivists or sensitives. So, you might ask, is there any difference between intuition and psychic ability? These two qualities are often used interchangeably because they describe similar abilities. Professional Tarot readers are normally sensitive to the vibration or energies of other people and things. Many cartomancers are sensitive to the energies of their cards and therefore 'read' their cards symbolically and intuitively. Intuition can be described as a 'sixth sense', ‘inner voice’, 'having a hunch' or a 'gut feeling'. If you are aware of, and act upon, your intuition you are well on the way to developing your psychic abilities. Intuition and psychic abilities can be developed through Tarot, Astrology, Numerology, Psychometry or Reiki (spiritual/energy healing). It is like exercising a muscle - the more it is used the stronger it becomes. Psychic abilities help us to 'read', interpret and understand things in the world around us and in our internal world. Senses includes Clairsentience (clear feeling), Claircognisance (clear knowing), Clairvoyance (clear seeing), and Clairaudience (clear hearing) Clairalience (clear smelling) Clairgustance (clear taste) and Clairtangency (clear touch).
My best wishes to you, Martha. Hello fellow tarot readers, artists, writers and teachers!
This year, 2023, we are again presenting the exciting, in-depth, successful 16-hour Tarot Course - Become a Tarot Reader - live at St. John's Church, Carrington Street, Adelaide. The course is delivered over eight x 2-hour classes and workshops. The course will be delivered fortnightly on Saturday mornings commencing Sat. 6 May and finishing Sat. 12 Aug., 2023. This definitive tarot course is ideal for anyone wanting to learn and/or improve their intuitive understandings, traditional (interpretive) knowledge and skills in reading tarot cards and spreads. I am biased (of course) but learning to read tarot is a most valuable talent and life-skill. Tarot reading is widely used for self-care, building self-confidence, developing psychic abilities and strengthening intuition, exploring creativity, divination and 'fortune-telling'. 'Become a Tarot Reader' workshops are semi-structured and interactive to maximise individual learning. We use the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot Deck throughout the course as both a teaching and learning tool. Activities include learning the fundamental meanings of the Major and Minor Arcana. Tarot reading mastery is steady and progressive. A step-by-step approach is taken to reading spreads starting with the simple one-card reading to the complex The Full Celtic Cross spread. Instructional methods and resources are comprehensive and include workbooks, open and flexible discussion, individual reflection and engaging group-work, and illustrated presentations. The Fee for Become a Tarot Reader Course is very reasonable. Please Contact me for more information about course delivery, fees or bookings. My very best, Martha. Hi, I'm your tutor for Adelaide's WEA Tarot Series - ‘Taste of Tarot’ (WEA Introduction to Tarot). ‘Reading 3-Card Spreads Masterclass’ (WEA Tarot Level 2). ‘The Celtic Cross Masterclass’ (WEA Tarot Level 3). Allow me to introduce you to a class about one of the most exciting and intriguing of all tarot card spreads - ‘The Celtic Cross’. ‘The Celtic Cross’ has for many centuries, remained a strong favourite for personal psychic growth and development of empathic and intuitive reading. The Masterclass offers students a whole day of highly interactive and practical activities and discussions. You will be doing Celtic Cross readings as a whole class and as individuals. 1 – Your current issue. 2 – That which blocks you. 3 – Your subconscious influence on this issue. 4 – Past event influencing the issue. 5 – Your values, goals and aspirations. 6 – The immediate future. 7 – Your attitude. 8 – Other’s influence. 9 – The ‘call-to-action’. 10 – The likely outcome, if nothing changes. While this spread may initially appear complex, our WEA Masterclass is designed to make your learning enjoyable, entertaining, and easy. You will explore the meanings of all ten card positions. Step by step, you build a complete story and gain clarity and a deeper understanding about the issue at hand. A day of constructing the ‘Celtic Cross’ enhances and elevates your ability to read tarot truthfully and fluently - both for yourself and others!
Hello! As an enthusiastic Tarot learner and practitioner, I am inviting you to consider WEA’s ‘Tarot Level 2 - Reading the 3-card spread’. In Level 2 we will be exploring the almost unlimited possibilities of this simple but compelling little spread. The 3-card spread opens our eyes and hearts to new and fascinating understandings about ourselves, our relationships, and the circumstances in which we find ourselves throughout our lives. This spread introduces us to the practice of true tarot storytelling and the universal patterns of life that make meaning of our own personal experiences. Our day of reading 3-card spreads is activity-packed. These activities are designed to help you to improve your tarot knowledge, intuition, and skills. The workshop aims to help you grow your appreciation of both the possibilities for empowerment together with the importance of having an underlying card-reading structure (a spread) for competent and confident interpretation; an ability that is essential and basic to all successful tarot practice. Our morning session begins with an introduction to 3-card tarot reading theory and practice. This includes basic analysis of a number of 3-card spreads, discussion and slide presentation, completing supportive handouts and interactive group ‘card-reading’ activities. We review and practice how to shuffle, cut and draw the cards; all preparatory techniques for our full day of reading practice. After a quick lunch, everyone will develop their own spreads to answer their own questions and queries. These personal readings will then be shared with the rest of the class, inviting group observation, reflection, and discussion. In my 22 years of teaching tarot, the 3-card workshop has never failed to be a fulfilling, fun and very productive experience for everyone. I hope you can join us at the WEA on October 15.
I cannot recommend this class highly enough for those of you who seek to truly progress your Tarot story-telling knowledge and skills. Please feel free to share this memo/blog with your friends and associates. Martha Adams WEA ‘Taste of Tarot’ Tutor WEA ‘Level 2 - 3-Card Readings’ Tutor WEA ‘Level 2 - Mastering the Celtic Cross’ Tutor Archangel Uriel Uriel is recognised as The Archangel of Prophesy. In the Biblical Book of Enoch, he was said to warn Noah of the coming Great Flood. The name Uriel is synonymous with divine Fire, Light, Salvation, and Presence.[1] Often seen holding a book or a scroll, Uriel is the Archangel of wisdom and patron to the arts and sciences. He guides matters of the intellect, learning and knowledge, the search for truth and inspiration, problem-solving and decision-making. His wisdom gives the ability to recognise and avoid danger and to relinquish anger, anxiety and all damaging emotions. TaurusThe symbol of the bull is a fixed, Earth sign that represents Taurus in the Zodiac. Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of charm, love, beauty, magic, wealth and money. Taurus enjoys physical comfort and takes joy from exquisite aromas and flavorous foods. The bull enjoys harmony, relaxation and country-type settings. The Hierophant The Hierophant is the Tarot Key for Taurus. The Hierophant represents wise and knowledgeable teachers, leaders, guides and advisors in our lives. The Hierophant helps us to learn about culture and society in tried-and-true traditions and assists in the search for higher truths. Pentacles The suit of Pentacles is associated with the Zodiac Earth signs of Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. These astrological signs represent the qualities of grounded-ness, sensuality, fortitude, service, and material manifestation. Pentacles represent the physical aspects of life and signify the body, possessions, wealth, and matters of security and stability [1]. Similarly, Pentacles relate to daily issues of work, welfare, education, growth, investments, home, money and abundance. [2] Also known as Coins in feudal times, this suit represented the class of traders and all their general worldly matters.[3] In Tarot, the suit of Pentacles symbolise the Earth Element. Earth Element In the Tarot, the Earth corresponds to the suit of Pentacles or Coins, is associated with the Goddess and considered to be the definitive feminine element.
The Earth element represents the qualities of fertility, stability, nurturing, solidity, reliability, endurance and strength. Zodiac, Angels and Elements/3Leo Leo, a natural leader is generally joyful, proud and confident. The Lion is ruled by the Sun, the ruler of life and vitality. Like the Sun, the lions of the Zodiac are known for their strength, loyalty, and reliability. Leos tend to gravitate towards fellow fixed signs of Scorpio and Aquarius also seen in the four corners of The Wheel X. Scorpios appreciate Leo's need for loyalty, and intense emotion. Both Leo and Scorpio can be 'black and white' about their close relationships. In Tarot, Leo is represented in and by the Major Arcana Key of Strength VIII, to demonstrate physical, mental and emotional resilience. Leo, the optimist, typically refuses to accept fear or failure and as such, continues to grow more courageous as they mature. Archangel Michael The Winged-Lion also represents Archangel Michael; the leader of Angels, miracle-maker, healer of the sick and the source of heroism. He is included in the three major sacred texts - the Torah (Judaism), the Bible (Christianity) and, the Qur’an (Islam). In all cases, Archangel Michael is depicted as a warrior, 'even if a peaceful and loving one' (Doreen Virtue)[3]. With the power of good he defeats evil and its embodiments. He is the Angel who rescues, protects, and safeguards us. As with the Zodiac Lion, Archangel Michael represents the element of Fire and is the spiritual force that provides stability and strength we can use to support ourselves and to develop robust and stable communities. Michael's can instil others with the courage needed to face personal obstacles and challenges and, to let experience and truth change us. Wands In Tarot, Wands carry the element and energies of Fire. Wands signify vitality, determination, activity, creation and originality. The suit of Wands demonstrates the qualities of competition, inspiration, personal values and spiritual strength. In Aleister Crowley’s 1944 The Book of Thoth, the suit of Wands is associated with the concept of Primal energy, the creative/destructive, life-force, that moves throughout everything in the universe. Some Yogis[2] suggest that by raising our primal energy we can become grounded, heal ourselves and alter our consciousness to achieve enlightenment. Fire Zodiac Leo, Archangel Michael and Wands of Tarot, all reflect the characteristics of the element of Fire. The element of Fire denotes ‘energy, activity, creativity, passion, freedom, power, love, vision, anger, strength, will, assertiveness, courage, and dynamism’.[1] In many creation myths Fire symbolises The Light; the first element used in the formation of the Universe. Fire is transformative and purifying but can also burn and destroy. The upward pointing triangle when shown in the Tarot, is the symbol for fire. Scorpios are known for their passionate, clairvoyance, and intuition. They know what they want and are not afraid to work a long haul to get it. Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, the planet of Transformation. In The Major Arcana, the astrological sign for Death XIII is Scorpio, representing transformation and growth. Scorpio is the element of Water and of the suit of Cups. Water signs are often drawn to deep emotional experiences and forms of expression. They possess psychic sensitivity and, often, will actively pursue its development. Archangel Gabriel is a topmost angel and associated with rising Phoenix of Scorpio. Gabriel is the Patron Saint of communication and telecommunications. He is God’s mediator, emissary, communicator, and announcer of revelations. The Archangel assists people to understand and accept messages and visions, with light, clarity, and a pure heart.
