Workshop #42017 - The Major Arcana In Reverse - A Further Exploration of The Meanings of the 22 Archetypes
Every one of the 78 tarot cards is a window of rich symbolism, profound mysteries and intricate lessons; offering us tools for personal, creative and psychic development. The Major Arcana is esoteric map of life experience and can offer the most profound insights to ourselves and the way we experience the world around us. Each of the 22 Cards of the Major Arcana are Archetypes, representing archetypal experiences; and each of the Archetypes work for you as a Guidance system for understanding the lesson in your Life and for Living your life Well.
I read 'reversed tarot cards' and have done so forever! An understanding of a full deck of Tarot images, including all the 78 cards 'in-reverse' offers a 'full orchestra' of 156 broad meanings and potential interpretations. While Reversed Archetypes might represent what G. C. Jung professionally and historically labelled our 'shadow-side' it is more important to recognise that exploring the meanings of these 'upside-down images' stretches our concept of the archetypes, of ourselves, our situations and the reality we live in. The tarot can be used to grow, to deepen our intuitive knowledge and an understanding both of our inner and outer realities.
The High Priestess II for example, expresses the sentiment of 'where there is light, there is also darkness'; that we are born into a world - a dimension - of extremes and duality where we perceive: 'good and bad'; yin and yang; male and female; 'right and wrong'; wisdom and naivety and of compassion and rage. By investigating the 'reversed meanings' of the 22 Keys we recognise that the elements at play in our personal, relational and collective experiences of 'life' are indeed, common to all!
